Memorial Day Weekend

On Saturday we woke up bright and early and headed up to Two Harbors to visit Steve's Grandma & Grandpa Battaglia and to make the annual trip to the cabin with a bunch of our friends. We expected it to be nice and warm, but when we got there the winds made it pretty cold. We took Jack for few walks in the stroller and just hung out and grilled.

Then today Steve worked with his dad to get our fence put up to surround the back yard. Hopefully this will be a great way to keep Bruin and Jack in and will mean less chasing for us. Here is a before and after picture of our new fence.

It's not fully complete yet, because we decided to build a deck in the back as well, so we are waiting to get the materials for that. We're excited to have a place for our table and grill in the summer.

Florida

So the past 5 days for me were spent in Florida. I had to go there for work to help out at the trade show conference. I flew out very early Friday morning, 5:15 to be exact. So Steve and I were up by 2:30am and off to the airport. I had decided to get a pass to SeaWorld on Friday afternoon because the work portion didn't start until Saturday. Even though it was 93 degrees and very humid, I had a great time and got to see a ton of cool animals. Since I was on my own I kind of went at my own pace and got to attend the Shamu show, Believe, and the dolphin and whale show, Blue Horizons. It was actually very moving to see these animals interact with humans. Here are some pictures...

After working the rest of the weekend and Monday down there, I flew home on Tuesday. I was very anxious to see Jack since I hadn't seen him in 5 days. When I got home I noticed he still seemed to be pulling at his ears. So today I brought him back in to see the doctor and they determined that his infection is still there after 7 days of antibiotics, so they gave him something stonger. Hopefully this will do the trick.

Another trip to the ER

On Wednesday night we ended up making another trip to the ER with Jack. He couldn't sleep unless we held him upright. So we decided to try some Tylenol in hopes we could make it to the morning, but after he was still crying we decided to bring him in around midnight. Turns out he had another ear ache and it was in both ears. Now he will have to make another visit to the doctor in 2 weeks for a recheck. Let's just hope that we can trust that Dad will remember to give him the medicine while I am in Orlando :)

Another bit of exciting news. Our friends Scott and Melissa finally had their baby last night. It was a boy and they named him Logan Patrick Forrest. Congratulations you guys!

Spring Fun

This weekend we had very nice weather and today we finally got to spend some time outdoors. While Steve assembled Jack's new bike trailer, I brought Jack on a walk with the wagon he got for Christmas. Then I pushed him in the swing for about 45 minutes while I sat in the lawn chair.

After all that he finally got to go on a ride in the trailer. Steve just road up and down the alley and Jack really seemed to enjoy it.

Jack - 1 year

Jack had his 1 year check-up today. The doctor said that Jack is growing well and she noticed he is very talkative. She also said that he seems to be pretty outgoing, which is ironic because they told us the other day at daycare that Jack likes to run the show with the other little kids. He actually met another little boy at the doctor today that was probably about 2 and Jack walked right up to him, put both hands on his chest, and backed the little boy into a corner. Either Jack is going to be a little know-it-all or a bully (let's hope neither).

  • Height: 30 inches (55%)
  • Weight: 23 lb. 10 oz. (61%)
  • Head Circumference: 18 3/4 inches (82%)

He was also told he could switch from formula to whole milk and table foods. So we have been slowly starting to trasition him over for the past week or so.
