Long Weekend

This has been a very nice long weekend which started off pretty exciting. On Thursday morning, our good friends, Dan and Katie, finally had their baby girl Dru Ann Danielson. Since I don't have any pictures yet, you check out their blog if you would like.

Saturday night, Steve and I went down to canal park and went out to eat and just walked around. There were a ton of people and the weather was really nice, so we took a few pictures by the lift bridge.

Then on Sunday, we went with Steve's family down to Canterbury Park to watch the horse races. I think between Steve and I we only won about $15 on all 10 races and definately left in the hole.

New Toddler Room

Yesterday was Jack's first day in the toddler room at daycare. He and a couple of his other little friends transitioned to this room where they will start to eat the regular lunches, take naps on a cot, and are able to play outside twice a day. Although yesterday was hard for Jack to adjust sleeping on the cot, today he slept for 2.5 hours and seemed to do fine.

This past week we also bought Jack his first toothbrush. Now that he has so many teeth the doctor suggested we start trying to brush them whenever he will allow us. He got a little Elmo toothbrush and some Thomas the Train 'training toothpaste', which basically has no flouride and is safe for him if he swallows it. He really doesn't mind it because the toothpaste tastes like bubble gum.

What Does a Cow Say?

Jack has been up to a few new tricks lately. I didn't even realize how quickly his vocabulary is increasing. He now knows where his nose and belly are, says some words that sound pretty close like shoes, puppy, and chair, and funniest of all - when you ask him "What does a cow say?" He will Moooo.

Also, at Jack's 15 month doctor's appointment he was told he is right on target as far as speech and other skills. The Dr. did mention how well he can throw overhand, because he hit her in the head with his shoe.

  • Height: 32 inches (71%)
  • Weight: 25 lb. 5 oz. (55%)
  • Head Circumference: 19 inches (77%)

Looks like Jack has gone up in the height department and down in the weight. Sweet!

Class of 1998

So this weekend was our 10 class reunion. As most of you know Steve and I graduated the same year, so it was nice to not have to be the significant other that didn't know anyone.

Friday night's festivities were held at the bowling alley and bar in Cloquet. We showed up around 7 and there were quite a few people already there. Steve did a little bit of bowling and we both hung out and mingled with our old classmates. By about midnight we were getting pretty tired, so we decided to call it a night.

On Saturday, since the reunion didn't start until 8, we went with a group of our friends to eat at Blackwood's in Proctor. Then we went to the Lost Tavern to meet up with some other friends that were not a part of our graduating class. By about 9 we decided to head out to the party which was being held at the Lost Isle in Carlton. Again, by the time we got there most of the people were already there. There was a DJ, some cowboy golf on the dance floor (Hmmm), and plenty of people drinking far too much. Everyone was having a great time, so we ended up staying until about 1:30.

All and all it was great to see everyone and hear about where people are living now, if they are married, have kids, and all that fun stuff. But I think by far the funniest moment of the weekend is when Katie realized half way through the night that she was wearing two different sandals.

Golf and Birthdays

Yesterday was the annual golf outing fundraiser for the Cloquet basketball teams. With Steve being the head coach, he is involoved in a lot of the planning and usually ropes me into helping out for the day. So Melissa and I rode around in a golf cart and sold raffle tickets for all the prizes being given away. It was Melissa's 30th birthday as well, so we enjoyed a few cocktails and the warm weather.

Here's a picture of Melissa pointing out the small pine tree stuck to our cart. Oops, I think I ran over a few too many of those...

Happy Birthday Melissa!
