Wild Helmet

This is the current LOVE of Jack's life.

We found it at a rummage sale for $3 and it's become a necessity in our house.

Churchill Track & Field Day

Yesterday Jack had Track & Field Day at Churchill, which include a number event stations in the morning, followed by a BBQ lunch outside. I was able to go volunteer in the morning and was with another mom running the gunny sack races. It was pretty fun to see Jack participate because he loves stuff like that.

Lumberjack Laps

This year both Olivia and Jack participated in Lumberjack Laps. The one very big downside this year was the temperature was about 30 degrees. Olivia was all excited to run and then when they yelled for her group to start running, she got upset and ran down the track crying the entire way. Steve kind of pulled her along and she ended up getting first place in her heat.

Jack ran with the kids his age and their race is once around the entire track, which is pretty far for those little legs. Regardless Jack made it around, but he was more worried about looking for the grandma's up in the stands than running fast.

I didn't have any pictures of Olivia because it was so cold and she was crying, but here is Jack after his race with his ribbon.

Jack's Spring Program

Yesterday Jack has his end of the year Spring program at Churchill with the entire kindergarten class. It was rainforest theme and they had animal masks, say songs about the jungle, and even had a video of their whole class they played for the parents. After the performance, family members where able to go back to see how the classroom was decorated like a rainforest and have some snack.

Jack is standing next to one of the giant tree trunks they made out of paper rolls.

Olivia First Fieldtrip - The Greenhouse

Olivia took her first fieldtrip today to Skutevik's Greenhouse in Cloquet. Since it's right across from my work, I just brought her to work with me and then walked her over at 8:15.

Here she is, so excited, at my work beforehand...

Jack's Birthday Trip to the Cities

This year we asked Jack if he'd rather have a friends party for his birthday or take a family trip to the cities, and he chose the trip. We left Friday night and just ate in the car on the way down so we could get to the hotel in time to swim. We checked in and jumped right in the pool, then back to our room to watch the Wild game.

Saturday morning we ate breakfast right in the hotel and then headed over to the MOA. We immediately went to Build-A-Bear Workshop when it opened so the kids could make their own teddy bears. Jack actually picked out a stuffed dog with a policeman's suit and Olivia chose a white cat with a dress. We spent rest of the day at Nickelodeon Universe going on the rides, playing games, and meeting several characters from the Backyardigans, to Spongebob and Patrick, and finished off the day with Dora and Diego. We also met up with Steve's aunt, uncle, and cousins family who were in the area for lunch at the Rainforest Cafe. In the evening we headed back for more swimming and the kids were exhausted.

Sunday morning we again had breakfast at the hotel and then decided to check out the SeaLife Aquarium at the MOA. It wasn't that great of a place to tour and although the kids liked seeing the sharks, I don't think I would go back again. After a quick lunch, we headed home.
