Twins game at the new Target Field

On Friday afternoon Steve and I headed down to Minneapolis to stay over night in a hotel and check out our first Twins game at the new Target Field. We did some shopping Friday on the way down and then stopped to eat in Roseville. We checked into our hotel and hoped to have a view of the fireworks that were taking place at the night game at Target Field (our hotel room faced the field about 2 blocks away). Sadly enough we both fell asleep watching TV before they even started.

Saturday morning we caught a few extra hours of sleep, shopped around downtown, and then after a quick bite to eat we headed over to the game. We prayed all day that we would not be in the sun because the temperature was nearly 96 degrees and very humid. We found our seats, and literally the row in front of us was sun - we were shade.

It was Veteran Appreciation Day, so before the game started they had a number of ways to honor past and current soldiers. One of the neatest things was when 4 Navy Seals jumped from an airplane and parachuted down. One of the men almost hit the right field wall, but was able to land safely. It was pretty intense since there were high winds and really only one place downtown that was safe to land (the middle of the field).

During the 7th inning we went on the hunt for cheese curds for Steve and ice cream for myself. We ended up in the middle of the Delta lounge area and it was nice and air conditioned with a number of restaurants and bars.

The Twins were up the entire game, but then gave up 8 runs to lose 8 - 6.
