Another Hospital Visit for Miss Olivia

This past weekend we hoped to attend Grandma's Marathon in Duluth and enjoy a quiet weekend at home for Father's Day, but Olivia had other plans for us. Around 2am on Friday night Olivia woke up with a very high fever. We brought her straight to the ER and found that she had another UTI, so they sent us home with antibiotics. By 2 that afternoon, it seemed as though the antibiotic was making her sick, because she had thrown up about 10 times, was lethargic, and her fever was up to 104.7. Needless to say, we rushed back to the ER and after being hooked up to an IV she was admitted to the hospital. We ended up staying in the hospital for 2 full days as she kept spiking very high fevers, even after being on antibiotic IV treatments.

We are finally home now and she seems to be doing much better. No major fevers today and for the most part she seems back to her normal self. I spoke with her Pediatric Urologist today and they are recommending we do her surgery very soon. They would like her to finish this course of antibiotic treatment and then we'll schedule her pre-op appointment and ultrasound before having the surgery probably in mid-July (more to come on that later once the appointments are scheduled and we know more details).

On another note - Olivia was in the hospital at SMDC Children's Hospital (which is essentially just a normal part of the hospital that they made very kid friendly). I was very happy with our stay there and we loved the large playroom they had for all the kids as well as wagons, strollers, highchairs, swings, and everything to make a child as happy as can be while in the hospital.

As far as Father's Day is concerned we didn't really celebrate too much. There's a few cute pictures of Olivia in the hospital and one nice one with Steve. Jack did come down for a short visit, but then went home with Grandma and Grandpa.

Poor baby! That has to be tough for you too. I'm glad your experiences at Duluth Childrens are postive, that helps. Thinking of you and your little girl.
